Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Krzysztof Piatek from AC Milan during the present transfer window.
The Red Devils have recruited no players since the start of the year but that would change before the winter transfer deadline next week.
According to The Athletic, the club have ‘made contact’ with the Rossoneri regarding a loan move for Piatek as they seek to strengthen their options within the forward department.
It is added that the Red Devils made the approach before Marcus Rashford’s injury but their prospects of signing Piatek may depend upon whether or not they are willing to simply accept the requirement to shop for for £30m within the summer.
Rashford has generally featured on the left side of the attack for United in recent months but he has still been the key contributor within the attack, having registered 19 goals and five assists across all competitions.
His injury absence thanks to a fatigue fracture has been felt within the past few games where Anthony Martial has struggled to seek out internet with clear-cut chances on offer which should increase the necessity for a replacement striker.
Piatek bagged 30 goals for Genoa and AC Milan combined last season but he has struggled to seek out an equivalent consistency this campaign and has netted just five times in 19 appearances for the Rossoneri.
Considering this, a loan option for the Poland international seems a secure option for United this month but it remains to be seen whether or not they will accept the Rossoneri’s demands for a compulsory buy-clause.
